I just want to know who Boone was talking to.

I just watched the finale (finally) and read the MSNBC artice, and I have to disagree with it. Sure, the show could keep going in circles, never really answering questions, but I think it's way too early to start worrying about that yet. As a viewer, I want it to strike a balance - giving me enough to feed my curiosity, but keeping some mystery alive. The larger island mysteries haven't been answered yet, but we have gotten some good resolution on some of the character mysteries. E.g. early on we though Jin was a thug, then we learned he was a good guy trapped in a bad situation, and just now that he was actually planning to escape. Same with Kate, we kept getting bits until we now have a good bit of her story. On the article's other point, I disagree that Lost is best as a character driven show. I think one of it's strengths is that it's working on both fronts. I love the flashbacks and characterization, but I also love the mysterious stuff. If the guy wants a character-driven show, there are plenty of those, why do people always want to bag on sci-fi? If after season 2 we haven't learned at least one or two BIG things about the island, I may start to wonder.

I want to emphasize that any complaints I might have are preemptive. Lost has been nothing but a great show so far, (though it occasionally suffers temporary losses of narrative momentum), so really everything I was saying was more about what I was worried might happen. Still, I have high hopes, and I'll definitely be back for Season 2.
